Inspired by the decorative window lattices in many old Taiwanese houses, “The Forgotten Element of Taiwan” allows players to customize window designs by adjusting geometric shapes with sliders. Coded with p5.js, the project takes its name from the book 老屋顏與鐵窗花, which compiles iron window patterns around the island and refers to them as "the forgotten element of Taiwan."
Turning words into illustrations, and eventually an interactive experience, "Words I Carry with Me" is based on three quotes that have influenced my perspective on life. I hope players find reassurance and solace through this interaction and my visual renderings, just as these quotes have helped me.
Using the Perlin noise algorithm in p5.js to simulate cigarette smoke, this interactive experience allows users to “light” an on-screen cigarette by clicking a fire-shaped cursor.
